Alice Ng’ang’a Rallies Juja Residents Behind Road Projects, Seeks Kiambu Governorship

Thika Town MP Alice Ng’ang’a has stepped up her campaign for the Kiambu governorship, pledging to champion infrastructure development and improve access to electricity as she seeks to succeed Governor Kimani Wamatangi in the 2027 General Election.

Ms Ng’ang’a, who is eyeing the county’s top seat, spoke during the launch of the Kimbo-Matangi-ini road in Juja Constituency, where Deputy President Kithure Kindiki presided over the event.

She urged the national government to extend development projects to more areas, saying improved road networks and electricity connectivity would unlock economic opportunities for residents.

The MP called for the construction of a bridge linking the newly launched road to neighbouring areas, including Ruiru, saying the connection would ease movement and improve access for residents.

She said the proposed bridge, which she referred to as Canaan, would strengthen connectivity between Juja and Ruiru, opening up the area for further development.

“Your Excellency, there is something else I would like you to add. We need a bridge connecting these roads so that people can also access the area behind us,” she said.

Ms Ng’ang’a also appealed to the government to address gaps in electricity connectivity, noting that although power had been installed in some areas following an earlier engagement with Principal Secretary Washira, many households remained unconnected.

She urged the Energy PS to return to the area and extend the programme to Karimoni and other zones that had not benefited.

The legislator said residents would appreciate further government interventions, particularly in areas where infrastructure projects remained incomplete.

She also welcomed the planned road works, saying residents would benefit from improved access and better transport links.

The MP used the gathering to rally support for her political ambitions, with residents responding enthusiastically to her remarks on the 2027 elections.

Ms Ng’ang’a, who has declared interest in the Kiambu governorship, was among leaders attending the launch, which formed part of the government’s push to expand infrastructure development in the region.

She further raised concerns affecting motorcycle taxi operators, commonly known as boda boda riders, saying they needed a common facility where they could meet and conduct their activities.

The MP said the riders were seeking financial assistance of Sh200,000 to support the initiative, urging leaders to help address their concerns.

Her remarks underscored the growing focus on infrastructure, electricity access and grassroots economic empowerment as political leaders position themselves ahead of the 2027 elections.

The road launch brought together national and local leaders, with residents expressing expectations that the projects would improve transport, boost business and enhance connectivity across Juja and neighbouring areas.
