TVS Motor Company has unveiled its premium electric scooter, the TVS iQube, in the Kenyan market, marking the company’s latest push into the country’s growing electric mobility sector amid rising fuel costs and increasing demand for cleaner urban transport solutions.
The launch positions the global two-wheeler manufacturer to compete in Kenya’s emerging electric motorcycle and scooter market, where consumers are increasingly seeking affordable alternatives to conventional petrol-powered vehicles.

According to the company, the TVS iQube offers significant savings in operating costs. Compared with a conventional 125cc petrol-powered scooter, riders can save an estimated Sh47,000 annually through lower electricity and maintenance expenses, making the electric scooter an attractive option for daily commuters and small business operators.
The scooter will be distributed nationwide through Car & General dealerships and will be offered with a two-year or 30,000-kilometre warranty, whichever comes first, alongside after-sales service support across the country.
TVS said the launch reflects its commitment to advancing sustainable mobility while expanding access to electric transport solutions in Africa.
Globally, the TVS iQube has surpassed one million customers, with riders collectively covering more than 17.8 billion kilometres. The company says the electric scooters have helped prevent approximately 623,595 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions, an environmental benefit it equates to planting nearly 25 million trees.
The manufacturer argues that the figures demonstrate how wider adoption of electric vehicles can contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and supporting global energy transition efforts.
The TVS iQube will be available in two variants tailored to different commuting needs.
The TVS iQube 3.5, the higher-end model, is powered by a 3.5kWh lithium-ion battery and delivers a real-world riding range of 115 kilometres on a single charge. It has a top speed of 82 kilometres per hour, accelerates from 0-40km/h in 4.2 seconds, and features 32 litres of under-seat storage. The battery can be charged from zero to 80 per cent in approximately 2 hours and 55 minutes using a 950W portable charger.
The TVS iQube 2.2 comes with a 2.2kWh lithium-ion battery, offering a practical riding range of 75 kilometres and a top speed of 75km/h. It also accelerates from 0-40km/h in 4.2 seconds and provides 30 litres of storage, with charging to 80 per cent taking about two hours.
Both models generate 4.6kW of peak power and 140Nm of peak torque, while incorporating Battery Management System (BMS)-controlled protection, IP67-rated waterproof battery protection, forward and reverse parking assist, and a five-inch digital instrument cluster.
The launch comes as Kenya continues to encourage investment in electric mobility through favourable policies aimed at lowering transport emissions and reducing dependence on imported fossil fuels. Industry players have increasingly introduced electric motorcycles, buses and passenger vehicles into the market, with manufacturers betting on declining battery costs and expanding charging infrastructure to accelerate adoption.
With its latest offering, TVS is seeking to strengthen its footprint in East Africa while capitalising on growing consumer interest in cost-effective and environmentally friendly mobility solutions.
