Kiambu member of Parliament Machua Waithaka has reaffirmed his commitment to improving infrastructure, expanding educational opportunities, and empowering youth during an engagement forum with parents, teachers, and students at Kasarini Secondary School.
Addressing the gathering, the legislator outlined ongoing and planned development projects, placing particular emphasis on road construction within the area. He assured residents that key access roads, including spur roads connecting the school and surrounding neighborhoods, would be upgraded to bitumen standards.
“We have discussed the roads, and I want to assure you that this stretch will be properly done. I will personally engage the contractor and the engineers to ensure that the road is extended up to this point and tarmacked,” said Waithaka.
The MP expressed confidence in delivering the project, citing previous successes in infrastructure development across the constituency. He noted that improving road networks remains a top priority to enhance accessibility and economic activity in areas such as Thindigwa.
Beyond infrastructure, Waithaka turned his focus to education and youth empowerment, urging students to remain committed to their studies while also embracing alternative career paths. He highlighted the importance of vocational training, noting that not all learners would transition to university.
“We must prepare our young people for all opportunities. Whether it is plumbing, electrical work, catering, or beauty services, we will support you. As long as I am your MP, I will walk with you and ensure you succeed,” he said.
He encouraged parents to take advantage of training opportunities offered at local digital hubs, particularly the Jitume Centre, which equips young people with practical and digital skills, including access to online jobs.
“We do not want idle youth in our community. Bring them to the centre so they can gain skills and even work online. An idle mind can easily be led astray,” he cautioned.
In a significant boost to the school, the MP announced a financial allocation of KSh 2.1 million to cater for students’ fees, effectively easing the burden on parents and promoting access to education.
“This cheque is for the school. Parents, your burden is lifted. Education here is free—bring all your children to learn,” he declared.
Waithaka also took time to mentor students, urging them to remain disciplined, avoid despair, and aim high in their ambitions. He encouraged them to pursue careers in fields such as engineering, aviation, and leadership, even challenging them to aspire to political office in the future.
“Believe in yourselves. You can become pilots, engineers, even leaders. One day, one of you could take over this seat,” he said.
Addressing mental health concerns, the MP advised students struggling with depression to seek guidance and support, emphasizing the importance of faith, resilience, and community.

Earlier in the day, Waithaka presided over the unveiling of a modern administration block at Kiamumbi Police Station, which now houses offices for the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI). The new facility replaces temporary iron-sheet structures and is expected to significantly enhance working conditions for officers while improving service delivery and security operations in the area.
The day’s engagements underscored the MP’s development agenda, captured in his slogan “Yangu Ni Kazi Tu,” as he continues to roll out projects aimed at transforming livelihoods across Kiambu.
Local leaders, parents, and education stakeholders welcomed the initiatives, expressing optimism that the combined focus on infrastructure, education, and youth empowerment would drive sustainable growth in the constituency.
