A Kiambu politician has urged youths to remain calm and keep peace as the 2027 general elections approach slowly.

Lari MP aspirant Josephine Miano told young people to remain peaceful throughout the campaign since they will earn respect from politicians who may intend to use them.

She urged parents with youthful children to keep reminding them about peace in a country, since residents of a particular area cannot coexist if there is no peace.

Miano said that no one would want to see cases of what had been witnessed some years ago of people losing lives, property being destroyed, people being displased and other ugly incidences.

“As of now, so many people can tell when a politician wants to use you. Please resist if you listen to them and you are not impressed” Miano said.

“When you decline, they will definitely know that you are enlightened people and united, you are focused and lastly you respect each other and in return, they will respect you” she said.

Miano noted that the campaign seasons are very sensitive and the society need to be join hands to campaign for peace.

“Let us also remember to follow our parents counsel. No parent can urged you to rise against your age mates or other people and you parents, do not get tired of advising you children. Some advises are better heard when a parent speaks to his or her children.

Speaking at young people at Gichiengo area in Kijabe, Miano urged young people to register as voters with the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission.

The politician who is also a business lady, was born and brought up at Kirenga village in Lari Kirenga ward in Lari constituency, has urged people to pray for country’s peace.

“I’m urging all church leaders and our people to pray for peace. Never disregard praying” the politician said.

Miano who is a member of Democracy of Citizens Party whose party leader is former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, has asked the government to ensure that no hatred, tribal and abusive politics will be played during the campaigns.

“We all need this country and we also each other before and after the elections. We need to coexist so that we do business knowing that business brings about movement within the country. Without peace, we cannot do business and we cannot attract local and even international investors” she said.

“We have built and developed this country so that we can ease trade, therefore, the government must safeguard all of us regardless of tribe, place of origin, political affiliation and race” she urged.
