Kiambu MPs Launch Massive Grassroots Drive Ahead of Polls

In a coordinated show of political might, Members of Parliament from Kiambu County have initiated an intensive series of grassroots consultative meetings, signaling the start of a large-scale mobilization campaign ahead of the upcoming elections.

The high-stakes strategy sessions, recently held in Kiambu Town, Limuru, and Lari, have consistently drawn crowds of over 500 United Democratic Alliance (UDA) members per meeting.

These gatherings serve as the foundation for an ambitious “pyramid” recruitment model designed to solidify the ruling party’s presence at the polling station level.

Speaking at a session in Kiambu Town’s Mushroom Gardens, Thika Town MP Alice Ng’ang’a revealed that the party is preparing for a massive delegates’ forum. This landmark event is expected to host over 35,000 UDA delegates from across the county.

According to Ng’ang’a, President William Ruto is slated to attend the forum to personally outline his administration’s achievements and future manifesto.

The strategy involves a targeted ripple effect where each of the 35,000 delegates will be tasked with recruiting at least 20 new members at their local polling stations.

The goal is to create a grassroots network capable of sensitizing residents on the government’s record and counteracting political opposition.

“The President wants the delegates to take the message directly to the people, explaining what the government has done and mobilizing more supporters at the local level,” Ng’ang’a told the attendees.

Lari MP Mburu Kahangara echoed these sentiments, defending the Kenya Kwanza administration’s track record in the region. He pointed to tangible development projects as a reason for voters to maintain the status quo.

Kahangara emphasized that re-electing current leadership is vital for the continuity of youth empowerment initiatives and start-up support, which he described as the backbone of the government’s plan to improve local livelihoods.

Kiambu County Woman Representative Anne Muratha delivered a pragmatic message regarding the region’s political alignment. She argued that the Mt. Kenya region’s prosperity is inextricably linked to its presence within the national government.

“Mt. Kenya cannot afford to be out of government,” Muratha stated firmly. “Development follows leadership and resources, and those are currently within the government.” She assured constituents that local leaders are working to ensure Kiambu is never sidelined in the national development agenda.

The mobilization efforts were further bolstered by the presence of Njoroge Kururia (Gatundu North MP),Machua Waithaka (Kiambu MP)

The meetings, which were conducted under the watch of police to ensure order, concluded peacefully.

As the election cycle nears, these grassroots forums are expected to intensify, with UDA leaders aiming to sweep the county and secure a dominant mandate for the ruling party.
