Police officers from Kiambu celebrated their end-of-year party in style on Saturday by sharing a meal with members of the public.

The event, held at the Kiambu Police Headquarters, was attended by senior officers led by the County Criminal Investigations Officer (CCIO) Douglas Chikanda, who served as the chief guest. He was joined by Kiambu Sub-County Police Commander Francis Njomo and OCS Beatrice Wambugu. Station commanders from Kanunga, Ndumberi, and Kiamumbi were also in attendance.

Speaking during the event, Mr. Chikanda noted that strong cooperation with the public has made it easier for the police to carry out their duties. He highlighted the strides made in tackling crime and urged residents to remain vigilant.

Sub-County Commander Francis Njomo added that since his arrival in Kiambu, he has engaged with various groups, including Boda Boda and Tuk Tuk operators, to address community concerns. He emphasized the importance of cohesion in the cosmopolitan town. “This will enable us to work in unison. I beseech you to work toward our common goal of providing this community with the service it deserves,” Njomo said.

Community policing representatives Josephat Waiti (Ndumberi) and Alloys Kirika (Kanunga) lauded the police for the initiative. While Waiti urged officers to increase efforts in curbing illicit brews, he commended their timely response to crime reports. Kirika noted that insecurity in Kanunga has dropped drastically due to the police’s swift action.

Members of the public enjoyed the rare opportunity to dine with the officers, heaping praise on the move as a step toward better community relations.
