President William Ruto has been urged to call for a presidential aspirants meeting so as to start campaigning for peace before, during and after the 2027 general elections.

A Kiambu based politician said party leaders should consider the country’s growth, even as they campaign.

Former ruling party Kanu Kiambu county chairman David Mbiu on Wednesday said that this country has so many people doing so many different jobs to earn a living.

“People cannot build a country, invest in it with a lot of hope for a better tomorrow, then we destroy it within a week or in several days because of a person who is a presidential candidate” he said.

Mbiu urged Ruto to plan for that meeting, asking all those who wish compete with the head of state to attend the meeting since it will indicate how one is royal to the country.

The former ruling party official says that many politicians who oppose the government may allege that they will not attend claiming that their supporters will pronounce that they had entered a deal with the government to support the president win the election.

“The meeting can be very important. A lot of issues that politicians will be discussed, but the main agenda is peace” he said.

He said the presidential candidates and their party officials will move around the country campaigning and preaching peace and that whoever will win, they will accept the results that will be released by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission.

“Kenya is growing country. We have witnessed deaths, injuries, displacements and destruction of property because someone had lost an election. We do not want to see a repeat of such ugly scenes and cases in this country” he said.

Mbiu who is contesting for Limuru parliamentary seat was speaking to his supporters in a meeting in Limuru town, when he also warned politicians seeking for other seats in county, constituency and ward levels to preach peace in their elections.

“Chaos have no room in our society at this age and time. I wouldn’t want to see or hear cases that I sent youths to disrupt meetings of other MP aspirants. That is so wrong” he said.

He decried that Kenyans are peaceful people are not tribal, but they are incited into attacking each other during the campaigns and during the general elections.

“We Kenyans trust one another, we have different types of people with different origins working and doing businesses in Limuru just like in any other part of this country, but but end up being divided during the elections and we fight a lot. This is very unfortunate. We do not want to see a repeat of those cases” he said.
