Thika MP Alice Wambui Ng’ang’a has officially launched her bid to vie for the Kiambu Governorship, a seat currently held by Governor Kimani Wamatangi.

Speaking in Gatitu, Thika, where she was endorsed by hundreds of Thika grassroots leaders, Ng’ang’a asserted that her groundwork survey had proved beyond a reasonable doubt that she was now ready for the seat.

The two-term lawmaker, using her moniker ‘Mama Simba’, noted that having served Thika constituency for two terms, she had initiated major projects that were well known to the residents.

“You as the people of Thika know where we have come from and how far we are going,” Alice told the residents amidst cheers. “I beseech you to support me for this seat so that I may also serve you in a bigger capacity.” She vowed to ensure that all projects initiated during her tenure are fully implemented.

Ng’ang’a said she had rallied eleven MPs from Kiambu to support her bid. The ten identified included: Machua Waithaka (Kiambu), Njuguna Kawanjiku (Kiambaa), Githua Macukuru (Kabete), Kimani Ichung’wa (Kikuyu), John Kiragu (Limuru), Mburu Kahangara (Lari), Njoroge Kururia (Gatundu North), GG Kagombe (Gatundu South), and Simon King’ara (Ruiru).

Others offering support for her candidature included Kago Wa Lydia (Former MP for Githunguri). She also noted that since Gathoni Wa Muchomba was not in her camp, she would leverage her existing networks in the Juja and Thika constituencies, areas in which she is well conversant.

She added that she will, in due course, be outlining her agenda for the county, which, according to her, has “not delivered on its mandate.”
