Rironi Residents Appeal to Governor Wamatangi Over Unpassable Road

Residents of the Shauri area in Rironi location, Limuru Central ward, are appealing to Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi to improve their road.

They claim a county government grader worked on the Shauri-Rironi road that heads to Kiroe but left it unpassable.
Stephen Waweru said that vehicles cannot move smoothly, even compared to before the grading, adding that the drainage was also not created.

Stephen Waweru, a resident of Shauri, expressing frustration over the unpassable Shauri-Rironi road.

Waweru said that most motorists have been forced to leave their vehicles at petrol stations or friends’ homes due to the pathetic condition of the road.

“That section of Shauri was done poorly. We were left confused. We are suffering a lot since many motorists aren’t driving their vehicles home,” he said.

“We are sure that our MCA, Josephine Nduta, and the Kiambu Governor were not aware of the status of that road,” Waweru said, adding, “We have so far contacted our MCA and informed her about it.”

Speaking at a public participation forum organized by the county government, the locals raised the concern about the road.
A boda boda rider, Samuel Kimani, said that they are trying by all means to avoid that road, but customers still call them.

“The road is troublesome. The trenches that were left are deep. One has to keep crisscrossing the road to try and avoid the potholes and trenches,” Kimani said.

“At times we are hired to transport items for the market, shops, and even customers’ homes. One gets so tired since you have to ride with your legs off the bike, as if you are walking,” he added.

Waweru said that they have a lot of hope in the Governor and area MCA, saying once they visit the area, the road will be fixed.

“All we know is that we have good leaders. Wamatangi and Nduta are hardworking leaders and team players who listen to the electorate. We know the road will be upgraded,” he concluded.
