Delegates of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s Democracy for Citizens Party have reaffirmed that their party leader will be their presidential candidate in the 2027 general elections.
They said it was wrong for a politician to struggle to come up with a party, persuade so many supporters, look for its funds and fail to vie for an elective seat using it.
A delegate Charles Kamau who is also  popularly known as Kamau Livondo said their supporters too were worried about what might happen to the party if another politician was named as the presidential flag bearer.
Speaking at the DCP delegates meeting, Livondo said Gachagua had popularised the party in the whole country, adding that a lot of Kenyan’s want to see how he can change the politics of this country.
Livondo said all the delegates agreed to support Gachagua, since he was the popular person with the party within the country, adding that his supporters too want him as the head of state.
“We are happy since Gachagua declared that he would contest for the president’s seat. This is the popular person Kenyan want to support. We shall campaign for him day and night” Livondo said.
Livondo who is seeking for Limuru parliamentary seat said the party is gaining supporters everyday and it was the party that will defeat President William Ruto in the forthcoming general elections.
“The elections are nearing as days go by. We are working so hard and we are sure that we shall defeat the current government. We shall win the elections” he reaffirmed.
He said he has been crisscrossing the constituency to listen to the electorates, adding that Gachagua was being received so well by locals.
“Apart from Limuru, other places within the country want to hear what Gachagua was saying, meaning he was a trusted, brave and an intelligent politician” Livondo said.
The meeting was also attended by deputy DCP party leader Cleophas Malala and secretary general Hezron Obaga and deputy strategy head Peter Mwathi among other leaders.
The meeting has happened when other party’s are laying the foundation and strategising on how to participate in the campaigns for the general election.
