The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has issued a public warning regarding a circulating SMS phishing scam. Fraudsters are reportedly targeting individuals with text messages claiming they must settle outstanding traffic violation fines immediately.
These deceptive messages urge recipients to make payments through a specific web link by a strict deadline. The NTSA explicitly clarified that the website URL featured in these texts, ntsca.cc, is fraudulent and unauthorized.
Authorities confirmed that this domain holds no affiliation with the NTSA or its operations. The agency stated it is actively collaborating with relevant investigative bodies to identify and apprehend the individuals responsible for the scheme.
To safeguard the public, the NTSA provided specific guidelines for handling these suspicious communications. Recipients are strongly advised to avoid clicking any links included in the messages or replying to the texts.
The agency emphasized that no payments should be made via the fraudulent platform. Individuals who may have already transferred funds are urged to contact their banks immediately to attempt to block or reverse the transactions.
The alert further instructed users to delete the fraudulent messages from their devices permanently. The NTSA reiterated that valid notifications from the authority are sent exclusively via the official short names “NTSA” or “22847_NTSA.”
